Boy do I wish VooDoo Dolls worked! (SMILE) If enough of us do this IT MIGHT WORK (SMILE)
This one has me RILED UP!
When government is going to do an action that is going to affect residents, they're REQUIRED to allow a discussion period before enabling the action.
For all of you readers who don't live in Laurel Hills Development, Here's the situation.
My home exists in a corner section of The Laurel Hills Development in Pine Hills Orlando. Two Roads feed this corner, coming together the next street over.
Willowwood St goes directly east west from this corner in mostly a LONG straight line. In less than 1/16 of a Mile they put AN OUTRAGEOUS NUMBER of 8 LARGE speed bumps to go to the Main Streets.
Bramblewood the other street connecting this corner, they put 4 LARGE speed bumps going in that direction in less than 1/16 of a mile. the road is kind of crooked (Thank God for that! Or there would have been more).
The end results? About a Hundred homes with the ONLY way out over an outrageous number of speed bumps........
I have asked around many times and was UNABLE TO FIND ANYBODY THAT HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THEIR INTENT TO INSTALL SPEED BUMPS.
It was REQUIRED FOR ALL THAT WERE AFFECTED TO HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED TO ENABLE THEM TO VOICE THEIR OPINIONS ON THE SUBJECT.
My complaint? I have neck and back problems and no matter how slow I go over those bumps I experience a STAB OF PAIN in my back and neck.
The Severe Jolt causing pain EVERY TIME.
Hence my Mental Slap to those responsible EVERY TIME I feel that STAB OF PAIN - I try to send it forwards to those idiots.
I'm going to keep it up until it (Mental Slap) works (Or if I can find a VooDoo Doll that works (SMILE)).
Typical government Reasoning - DON'T PUNISH THE ONES RESPONSIBLE (The speeders who don't live here)
It would have been too simple to protect our rights and neighborhood by occasionally posting a cop to deter speeders.
Instead they chose to PUNISH 100 OR SO HOMEOWNERS WHO LIVE BEHIND THOSE SPEED BUMPS EVERY TIME WHEN THEY LEAVE WITHOUT ASKING THEM.
I can understand somewhat the reasoning for this reason:
About 8 years ago after living here for 23+ years i was at the intersection the next street over headed south on a thursday thru the intersection.
for those of you who don't know the area, Bramblewood, in that direction thru the intersection has NO signs and the right of way. The road coming the other direction HAS YIELD SIGNS. I always and always have gone slow thru these intersections and on this day just as I go to go thru the intersection , ZOOM! a car goes 50 mph flying thru the intersection ignoring the yield signs just missing me by about 25 feet of my being in the intersection.
That Saturday the same thing with my coming thru the intersection the OTHER way, - just missed with an SUV going thru 50mph by about 10 feet.
What happened next on that Sunday?
I put a propane tank and wedged it by the front seat of my van to go fill it.
Heading south on Bramblewood at about 23mph I went to go through that Intersection, I looked left (I could see half way up the street as I neared - nobody there) Looked Right and just as I looked back straight in front of me in the blink of an eye there was an Oldsmobile Convertible going to collide with me that had to have been going OVER 60 MPH THRU THE YIELD SIGN Just as I hit him.
Everything went into slow motion, as the vehicles collided (I was wearing my seat belt) I slammed on the brake and held it down, deliberately fighting to stay upright as my upper body in slow motion arced forwards and then SLAMED my head against the windshield post.
The seat belt was defective, for it went to full extension allowing my head to hit the windshield post - IT NEVER LOCKED.

My left front hit on his right front wheel, his car spinning sideways slamming side by side into the van transferring his speed to my van .Cars locked together going at speed southwest to hit that house, I AIMED MY VAN THE BEST I COULD FOR THE TREE and held the brakes down as I went into the yard to stop the van from hitting the house. As the vehicles hit the curb the Oldsmobile bounced off southwards.
The Van came to a halt right against the tree.
I got out, my head in intense pain, and asked the other driver if he was all right. He said Yes and I got away from him for my ANGER was becoming uncontrollable due to the extreme pain in my head. I asked the residents of the house to call the police and they did.
I let the cop to be the go between the other driver and me.
I never spoke to the other driver again, I didn't trust myself, for my anger was on the verge of violence. I had JUST SPENT $1200 fixing the dual AC on the van 5 days prior.
I WAS LESS THAN 40 YARDS AWAY FROM MY HOUSE AS THE CROW FLIES.
When asked by the policeman, the other driver brazonly stated (The one with the yield sign) "I DIDN'T HAVE TO STOP - I DIDN'T SEE HIM!!"
Boy what a bright statement. He also stated he had just gotten the car back from being fixed from another accident.
His reason for speeding? He was late for Church (while he was trying to send me to one in a casket - just a fraction of a second later and he would have hit my driver's door You can gauge his speed - he covered a distance of over 100 yards in less than 1 second during my looking left then right and back......)
They totaled my van, insurance only paid about 45% of what it was worth and I lost the AC repair fees.......
My head hurt for over 6 mos afterwards and my neck constantly since with constant pain for when the body gets injured it deposits calcium where the injuries occur.
I now have severe arthritis /calcium deposits in my neck and back, the doctors are amazed I can still move my head. Also the bones in both wrists constantly go out of joint with pain , the cartilage that aligns the joints being damaged from the collision - from my hands being braced on the wheel (And I used to be a drummer).
I'm still trying to figure the impossible odds, to have driven that intersection for 23 YEARS and all of a sudden 2 close calls and one collision in 4 DAYS - The odds are SO REMOTE I still can't help thinking it wasn't an accident but rather staged.

In defense of the other driver, the yield sign was partially obscurred by the tree on the corner and a Black Van was PARKED in front of it too close to the corner - but his 60 mph was STILL TOO FAST TO HAVE SEEN IT!
so what was done? did they put speed bumps on the east west road to get them to slow down to see the yield signs?
No they did what was described above. put speed bumps on the thru right of way road which was idiotic.
To this day the people with the yield signs STILL AREN'T STOPPING for thru traffic causing accidents.
So I've lost a $8000 van that I got paid $2800 for lost $6800 on it including AC repair, got severe arthritis in my neck with constant pain every time I turn my head as it snaps and pops. Same thing with my wrists. And NOW anytime I leave the house I have to endure at least 4 JOLTS OF PAIN over speed bumps. (Thank God the propane tank didn't blow) And after every Mental Slap I ponder the new $1 per pack cigarette tax in process AFTER the $9 a carton raise. They need a Mental Slap too.
.....and the speed bumps? they don't do me or us residents any good for they are still running the yield signs........
Speed Bumps are a Stupid and a Direct Harassment and torture of innocent individuals. Especially 8 IN LESS THAN 1/16 OF A MILE!
99.9 percent of individuals traveling over these idiotic things are the innocent sufferers PUNISHING THE INNOCENT NOT THE GUILTY!!!!!!!!!
DEAL WITH OFFENDERS CORRECTLY - PUNISH THE GUILTY!! TICKET THEM WITH EXCESSIVE FINES FOR OFFENSES IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS!!!!!!
Anyhow, if you're a S&M Freak and like the Speed Bumps, come join us in watching the handicapped kids bouncing almost to the ceiling and flipping as each bus to Magnoilia School goes thru - Its hillarious for them and fun to watch them without seat belts We'll save a chair on the lawn for 'ya
Those Responsible? Expect a pain and suffering lawsuit in the future, for you've left me NO WAY OUT (without speed bumps (PUN INTENDED))
....now back to studying about VooDoo Dolls, - I have some Haitan friends that might know more (SMILE)
